Hi! I'm Elise.
If you want to:
- Strengthen your faith
- Discern God's direction as you make complex and daily decisions
- Crush fear and anxiety in your life
- Leave the next generation with indisputable evidence of God's unfailing love
... then you are in the right place!
I Am a Faith Coach.
I help Jesus followers - family-in-Christ just like you - strengthen their faith by strengthening their memory.
Your memories - your personal experiences of Christ - are the core of your faith.
And your personal experiences of Jesus - your legacy of faith - is the most valuable gift you can leave to the next generation.
No one will know what God has revealed of Himself to you unless you share it.
My Passion + Goal
My passion is to help you remember, record, and relay your experiences of Jesus.
My goal is to equip you with confidence so you will "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." (1 Peter 3:15)
Even to your own, forgetful soul.
Looking back at our lives we can see so much goodness God was unfolding that we did not realize in the moment.
As your Faith Coach I help you remember your own story. Remembering brings clarity and discernment into your "right now".
I can see now that God trained me up as a Faith Coach from birth. I am the oldest girl of nine children, and coaching younger siblings in their faith is one of the greatest privileges of my big-sister role.
Due to some deep wounds, self-hatred, and lots of stubborn pride - I intentionally turned away from God for several years towards the end of high school. Self-harm, drinking, drugs, promiscuity, abortion... I gave myself over to it all.
I became pregnant again at 19 and scheduled another abortion - but Jesus intervened miraculously a week before my appointment and that child is now a glorious 12-year-old.
I never went to college but got my Master’s education in the powerful, unconditional love of Jesus through 3 ½ years of single motherhood.
As a single mom God provided work for me as a professional hair stylist and airbrush makeup artist - which also became a prime setting for coaching others in their faith!
Other Experience God has given me as a Faith Coach:
- Pro-life speaker
- Peer counselor at my local pregnancy center
- As a Blogger and Writer for the last 7 years
- Children's Ministry Director at my church
- As a mom of 5 exuberant, strong-willed, awesome kids
A Good Place to Start
One simple way to immediately strengthen your faith (and good preparation for leaving your legacy) is this:
Once a week - in the time when you normally set aside time to be with God alone for Bible study, worship and/or prayer - begin practicing "a day for remembering".
On this day you don't have to "do" anything. You're not trying to strive "forward", to learn more, to consume more.
On your day for remembering simply try one (or several) of the following suggestions:
- Read back through your Bible soaking in verses you underlined some time ago
- Read a couple of entries in an old journal
- Pull down an old, completed Bible study and read through a few pages
- Listen to a couple of worship songs that were very important to you last year, or in a previous life season.
The Power of Remembering
There are more benefits to your faith when you practice remembering than I could possibly list here.
But I can't wait to highlight this powerful truth-connection that your enemy hopes you'll never make!
Soak this in:
It is the Holy Spirit Himself who personally, individually reminds you of what He has previously said to you, and taught you. (see John 14:26).
So as you practice a day of remembrance, you're making space for the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you let the memories come to the forefront.
The Holy Spirit is the One you are seeking for discernment in your life struggles and decisions right now.
So as you make time to listen for Him, and are reminded by Him of His previous involvement in your life you will grow more and more familiar with His "voice".
The more familiar you become with His communication to you, the easier it is to discern His direction in your right now: "this is the way, walk in it."
In short, it's this:
Remembering what God has done in your life = the Holy Spirit speaking to you = increased discernment for what His communication and direction sounds like!
I'm excited for you! There is a treasure store of faith-strengthening experiences in your own memory, and I'm so thrilled for you to dive in and be strengthened by Him!
First Action Step
Your first faith-strengthening exercise is this:
Pick one 30 minute - 1 hour time slot/1 day per week and set it aside as your "day for remembering".
Then I'd love it if you send me a note letting me know what God stirred up and brought to the surface to strengthen you with! Email me here: littlelunchmaker(at)gmail(dot)com.
YOU are so, so loved!
